I admit it. I was down on The Amazing Spider-Man.

It's not like I can hide from it. The evidence is here and here.

Let's be honest, I wasn't just down on the movie, I found it to be redundant and unnecessary. It was simply the latest example of Hollywood's obsession with sequels and remakes.

Everything that I saw up to this point told me the same thing. This was exactly the same movie that Tobey Maguire made a decade ago.

Of course, that was all in the past. The future began when I watched the new trailer that Sony debuted overnight. If there has been a faster 180 in all of online journalism then I haven't seen it.

Literally overnight, The Amazing Spider-Man went from not being anywhere close to my radar to landing in the top three movies that I want to see this Summer. For those of you scoring at home, the new list is The Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus and then The Amazing Spider-Man.

No, really, this trailer is that good. I love seeing Denis Leary as Captain Stacy. Rhys Ifans is spot on as The Lizard. And what more can you say about Emma Stone other than, umm she's really frickin' hot. Yes, that's a technical term.

Beyond all of that though, I think the real test to how well this incarnation is going to go over is what Andrew Garfield is going to bring to the role. Just in these clips alone, you can see that he's bringing Spidey's trademark sense of humor to the big screen. I also dig this whole back story of Peter Parker's parents that really hasn't been explored before.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think. The Amazing Spider-Man swings into theaters on July 3, 2012.
