First, Snow White set the record. Then, The Phantom Menace destroyed the record. Now, Shrek owns the record. With over 2.5 million copies sold in its first three days, Shrek broke both the single day and single week sales records for DVD offerings.
When you add in the fact DreamWorks also sold about 4.5 million VHS copies, you can see why DreamWorks is seeing green this holiday season. With combined sales totaling over $110 million, it even beat the highly touted Monsters, Inc.'s first weekend of box office receipts ($63.5 million).
