This winter is being called the season of DVD dominance. With the slate of high-powered titles chomping at the bit to debut on this new medium, it's no surprise that there will be plenty of records set this fall.

Two weeks ago, The Mummy Returns became the first title to sell 2 million copies in its first week of release. Last week, Disney's Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs set a record by topping 1 million discs sold on the very first day of release (although it didn't muster enough weekly sales to challenge the record of 2 million set a week prior. And this week, it's no surprise that Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, the first Star Wars movie to debut on DVD, set the new weekly record with over 2.2 million copies sold.

The next couple of weeks are bound to be interesting, with special DVD editions on the way of Shrek and How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
