We were so busy posting our 2011 box office projections on Friday that we overlooked the new photos from upcoming Marvel movies that came out that day.

Then today came yet another new Captain America pic in the LA Times. We took that as an opportunity to post a massive montage of Marvel movie muscle men. (Holy alliteration, Batman! Ooops, wrong comics company.)

Here's that new shot of Chris Evans in Captain America: The First Avenger. While I dig the printed wings on the side of the helmet, I'm not sure I like the rest of the get-up. As blogger Dan Hacker said, he looks like a football-themed G.I. Joe character.

And now the Cap photo from Entertainment Weekly that plopped down on Friday. Sure the look jives with the character's comic origins but it just doesn't mesh with my mental image of him.

The other big photo was the first look at Andrew Garfield in the Spider-Man reboot. Give it a thorough dissection.

I do think Garfield (no, not the cat) is a good actor and like his casting but the whole concept of a reboot leaves a bad taste in my mouth. How many times can you re-do a comic icon until you water it down past the point of no return? Specific to this photo, I'm not sure I like the texture of the costume. It looks too detailed for a teen nerd to produce. (Yes, I prefer my superheroes in tights.)

Finally, yet another shot of the mighty Thor in the Marvel film coming before these other two. Seeing Chris Hemsworth as a presenter during Sunday's Golden Globes, it became clear that this is a role he was born to play. He just looks like a superhero, even in a tux.

While I was extremely uninterested in this film at the outset, I'm warming to it with each new tidbit revealed. It looks to be an amazing ride.

Thor comes to theaters on May 6 while Captain America: The First Avenger arrives July 22. The Spider-Man do-over doesn't come out until the following July 4th weekend.
