Well, if you were decent enough to read my long and rambling critique of terrible movie trailers currently out in "support" of upcoming movies, then I owe you at least one trailer that will redeem Hollywood's reputation, no?

Last night, I returned home and was welcomed by an email from my girlfriend pleading that I promise to take her to see this movie, with a link to the trailer. Of course, I'm someone who aims to please and I love movies so I figured that it would be an easy request to grant.

But then, I opened the link.

Now, she's an unabashed fan of all things Coen brothers related and, for the most part, I dig all of their stuff, but this upcoming movie of theirs had me worried. I'm a huge believer that there are just some things that you don't touch.

You don't remake Citizen Kane. You don't try to improve upon Goodfellas. And you don't ever mess with The Duke.

But here was the trailer for True Grit, one of John Wayne's most memorable roles, and to say I had great trepidation would be an understatement. I was torn between my paranoia that Hollywood was simply robbing the graves of past legends and watering it down for today's super size me culture and my desire to keep my girlfriend happy.

I knew what I had to do, regardless, but I'm happy to report that, at least according to this trailer, it looks like this remake has a real chance at honoring the man (myth and legend). I suppose if anyone is up for the challenge, it would be the Coens.

True Grit hits theaters this Christmas. Let us know what you think.
