Last week, news broke that J.J. Abrams had tacked a secret trailer on to Iron Man 2. This trailer was for a movie called Super 8 and rumor had it that it was possibly related to Cloverfield in some way.

Well, a week later the trailer is out (check it below or in HD over at Apple) and details are beginning to emerge. In fact, this little movie is much more that another little movie.

Super 8 is the collaboration between J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg that was announced a few weeks ago. And from the events in the trailer, it seems that Spielberg is getting back into some familiar territory.

Basically, the trailer sets the events of the movie into motion. It's 1979 and U.S. Air Force has decided to close down a section of Area 51. All of the sensitive materials from that section are being transported across country via train to a base in Ohio (the famed Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, perhaps?).

Everything is seemingly going well until the train crashes and unleashes whatever is in that cargo hold.

As you can see, the premise is simple, scary and right up both of these artists' alley. But, you can dig deeper.

If you slow down the flickering Super 8 footage at the end, you reveal a message, "Scariest Thing I Ever Saw." And naturally, if you type that into a web browser, you get ScariestThingIEverSaw.com, and the launch of a brand new viral campaign for the movie.

By playing around with the site, you come to a countdown of sorts. A computer from February 5, 1977 is loading a file very, very slowly. The time for each byte varies, but the best estimates indicate that the file should be downloaded later this week.

As a side note, Spielberg released Close Encounters Of The Third Kind theatrically in 1977. Spooky, eh?

Well, for now, enjoy the trailer and play around with the viral game and let us know if you're able to break through. I don't know about, but I already can't wait until next Summer.
