The hit animated movie from Disney and Pixar, WALL-E, is coming to DVD and Blu-ray Disc on Nov. 18. The critically and commercially successful film will be released in three different DVD versions and two different Blu-ray editions.
WALL-E is coming in both two-disc and three-disc Blu-ray versions. Both will include BD Live capabilities. As for DVD, you'll be able to get a bare bones single-disc and a three-disc special edition. A Spanish language DVD will also be released.
The single disc versions will include these bonus features:
- BURN-E, an all-new animated short featuring a little robot shown briefly in the film
- Deleted scenes
- "Presto," the animated short shown prior to WALL-E in theaters
- A sneak peek of WALL-E's Tour of the Universe
- Animation Sound Design: Building Worlds From the Sound Up, a featurette With sound designer Ben Burtt
- Audio commentary with director Andrew Stanton
The triple disc DVD will include the above items from the single disc as well as:
- The Pixar Story, Leslie Iwerks documentary history of Pixar's beginnings
- More deleted scenes
- WALL-E's Treasures and Trinklets, a look inside the robot's collection
- BnL Shorts, a look inside the Buy n Large corporation featured in the movie
- "Lots of Bots" Storybook, interactive storybook and games
- "Making Of" featurettes
- Plus the always-great "And More!"
The two-disc Blu-ray will have all the 3-disc DVD bonus features above in addition to:
- BURN-E with Boards, a picture-in-picture presentation presumably with storyboards of the short
- Cine-Explore with Andrew Stantion
- Axiom Arcade, a retro collection of video games "with a twist"
- Geek Track (not sure yet what this is but it sounds intriguing)
- Disney BD Live Network allows you to connect with family and friends for an innovative movie-watching experience
The three-disc Blu-ray adds Disney File Digital Copy which allows you to put a copy of the movie on your computer and/or portable device like iPod and iPhone. The three-disc DVD will also include the digital copy.
Of course, WALL-E is the story of the last remaining robot scavenger on Earth who finds love in a white scout 'bot named Eve. The movie has received an impressive 97% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 93 out of 100 on Metacritic. WALL-E was written and directed by Stanton.
