Up until now, we didn't even have a title for Kevin Smith's horror movie, but thanks to Rotten Tomatoes' UK site, we now know a bunch about Red State. According to the interview on the Red State will be more of a psychological thriller than a traditional horror movie.

"It's weird because for a few months I've been saying 'horror movie' and technically it is, but it's also not a very traditional horror movie in the sense that people have been asking me, 'Is it a slasher movie? Is it like the Japanese horror flicks?'" said Smith. "It'd be much easier to just show it to them when I'm done and be like, 'This is what I meant.' At which point I'm sure there'll be people saying, 'This ain't a horror movie!' But to me, it is."

Kevin went on to describe Red State as a movie that found inspiration in Fred Phelps, the leader of the controversial Westboro Baptist Church. The teachings of the Westboro Baptist Church include the condemnation of homosexuality, the United States of America and Canada.

I mean really, who hates Canada, eh? Talk about all the makings of a scary psychological thriller.

Red State should start filming before the end of the year and Smith hopes to film in a real American red (conservative) state in the heartland.

I'm sure the Westboro Baptist Church will picket the opening of the movie sometime next year.
