The Davenport House is a brick, Federal mansion built between 1815 and 1820, raised high to catch the southern breezes. Designed by William Jay, the Owens-Thomas House features exquisite detailing and a massive portico. Telfair Academy, the oldest public art museum in the South, is housed in a fine Regency mansion also designed by Jay. In the same style, the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace (founder of the Girl Scouts) dates from the 1810s.
