Marc Summer (Til Schweiger) is a passionate cyclist and urban slacker — good looking, charming, but always broke, a constant heartbreaker and an unreliable drunkard refusing to take responsibility for anything -- whose life changes in an instant when he loses his left leg in a hit-and-run accident. Barely out of the hospital, Marc tries to rush right back into his old life in an attempt to repress this cruel blow of fate. But when he falls in love with Nika (Jana Pallaske), he realizes he can either wallow in self-pity — or tackle the beast called life with the help of love, willpower and his own two feet. A contemporary story of physical and emotional struggle, this striking and thought-provoking debut for German director Matthias Emcke is based on the true story of one of his best friends, Canadian cyclist Stephen Sumner.
