Studios Remaking 'Seven Samurai'

Considered one of the action movies of all time, MGM and Miramax have struck a deal to remake Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. The original movie featured a small village that was under attack by bandits and the Seven Samurai they hire with hadfuls of rice to protect them.

This isn't the first time that this story was reworked. In 1960, it was retold as a Western entitled The Magnificent Seven. The details of this adaptation are still sketchy, so it's unclear whether it will be a faithful retelling, or a contemporization of the story.
