Robert Downey Is 'Singing' And Not On The Chain Gang

After a year of prison in 2000 for violating probation and being arrested twice after his release, Robert Downey, Jr. may have finally found the road to redemption.

This Oscar-nominated actor may have a tainted past, but he still seems to win the audiences and the entertainment executives over with his true talent in front of the camera. He spent a season on the hit sitcom 'Ally McBeal' and now is ready to take on another big screen movie with 'The Singing Detective,' which is being produced by his close friend Mel Gibson.

It's quite a coincidence that Downey will portray a man suffering from psoriasis and the show is more of an in-his-drug-induced-mind recollection as he fades in and out of consciousness.

Filming is slated to begin after April 23rd, when Robert is released from his rehab program. 'The Singing Detective' will need to stay sober or he'll be singing the blues...
