Oh The Grand Golden Globes

Sunday night turned out to be just what everyone expected. The stars, the red carpet, the fans and acceptance speeches to remember and forget. But for some reason, the 59th award show seemed to be three hours of great entertainment.
It was more than a "good day" for the cast and crew of A Beautiful Mind, as the group walked away with four of the most sought after awards. The much talked about In The Bedroom made Sissy Spacek's comeback on to remember as she won the Best Actress in a Drama Picture award. Ms. Spacek said it was indeed an honor and she loved being able to do what she loved to do but the best part of her day was being able to go home to her family, although when thanking her agents she did toss out "thanks for getting me this job...not I'm gonna need another!"
As for television, Alan Ball and Rachel Griffiths said it best with when he revealed his daily mantra, "Thank God for HBO" and Jennifer thanked "those crazy bastards!" The network claimed six awards for shows and their actors.
The night did hold a couple of surprises on the winners podium when newcomer Jennifer Garner beat out seasoned stars like Lorraine Bracco, Edie Falco and Amy Brenneman for Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series/Drama. "I know I was good in Dude, Where's My Car, but seriously..." she giggled as she thanked the executives for taking a chance and casting her as CIA Agent Sydney Bristow in Alias. A standing ovation surrounded Robert Altman as he walked to the podium. The director was overwhelmed and overjoyed when his name was on winner's ballot for Best Director as most bets were sitting on Ron Howard.
All of the winners were in attendance except for Gene Hackman, who seemingly missed his connections and couldn't get there in time...
