Tom Cruise Perfect For 'Cold' Role

It was Mission: Impossible for Tom Cruise before but his next project might be just as impossible. The actor has signed on for the movie version of 'Cold Mountain,' a best-selling novel about the Civil War.

The book by Charles Frazier won the National Book Award. The three-time Oscar nominee hopes 'Cold Mountain' will be the film to bring home the statue. Tom will be working with other Oscar winners director Anthony Minghella (The English Patient and The Talented Mr. Ripley) and producer Sydney Pollack (Out Of Africa).

Mr. Cruise will play a wounded soldier who deserts his squad to get home and back to the woman he loves. The lady lead is still open. My vote is for Nicole...
