OK, that headline was way too easy. But honestly, with today being what is (stick around for a few hours), it's the best I can do.

Director Paul Feig dropped the first look at his take on the classic Ghostbusters story today. At first blush, the humor is there and it certainly looks like a Ghostbusters film, but that might end up being its downfall.

While each of the young ladies brings their trademark humor to the role, it's pretty obvious that they are each stepping into classic characters that were drawn by kings such as Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. There's the nerdy science one. The quirky one. The one who brings a non-scientific background, but makes up for the shortcomings of her peers.

Remaking or rebooting classic films is a tricky business and it's why I'm normally very much against it. You have to toe a fine line between fan service to the original films and striking out on your own. This trailer seems more of an homage to the former and less of the latter, but it's only the first trailer.

And there is a good reason to be excited about it.

Did you catch it? What? You mean you didn't catch that sneaky link that they hid in plain sight in the trailer? Well, let me help you out a little. During that shot of white board, amongst all of the equations was something that looked a bit out of place.

That string of seemingly benign letters and numbers is actually a website, http://www.paranormalstudieslab.com. That site is the home of the "Kenneth P. Higgins Paranormal Studies Lab. Not only is there cool behind the scenes stuff on that site, but it also features this little featurette.

Little Easter eggs like this give me hope that this new film will indeed find its own path and marry the old and the new into the start of a new franchise. They certainly picked the right comediennes to do it, that's for sure.
