Harry Potter returns (sort of) in 'Fantastic Beasts' trailer

Did you know that there's a new Harry Potter film coming out next year? Well, there is and there isn't. No, Daniel Radcliffe won't be dusting off his infamous spectacles to bring the iconic character to the big screen again, but there will be a new film set in the magical world of witchcraft and wizardry.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a spin-off from the main franchise and follows the adventures of famous magizoologist Newt Scamander who wrote the eponymous textbook that is featured in the Harry Potter series. The film is set 70 years before the events of Harry Potter and is set in the United States.

Other than that, Warner Bros. has not released much ahead of this week's first trailer. From first blush, the film certainly has that Harry Potter feel and lead Eddie Redmayne looks to have captured the introverted wizard perfectly.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will debut in theaters on November 18, 2016.
