The 1975 classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail remains one of my favorite movies to quote. Each time I wheel out my trash cans to the curb for pick-up I recall an early scene in the film. If no one is around to hear I might even utter the line.

"Bring out yer dead."

"Bring out yer dead."

"Bring out yer dead."

It's a geek cliche to love this film but I can't help it. In fact, I use an an image of Tim the Enchanter as my profile pic on many social networks. It just fits -- even if I'm not that enchanting.

Come October we'll all have an exciting new way to celebrate this uber silly film. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is releasing a special 40th anniversary Blu-ray. Not only that but there is a limited edition gift set that serves as a castle and catapult. You guessed, it even includes farm animals to use as ammunition.

Allow Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, John Cleese, and Terry Jones to show you themselves.

The special packaging will run you $50 or more -- $55.99 is the suggested retail price. That is a little much but thankfully they also have a disc-only version for $19.99 (suggested retail).

The Blu-ray has a bunch of bonus features as well:

  • Letters from co-directors Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam
  • New Q&A with the Pythons recorded at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival, hosted by John Oliver
  • Commentaries by Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, John Cleese, Eric Idle, and Michael Palin
  • Outtakes and extended scenes with introduction by Terry Jones
  • Lost animations with introduction by Terry Gilliam
  • How to Use Your Coconuts (An Educational Film)

While I still don't know the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow, I do know I will be buying this Blu-ray.
