James Bond up to his old tricks in new 'Spectre' trailer

Just when things were going so well for Spectre, Sony decides to fall back upon tried and true tropes when it comes to James Bond trailers. Yes, everyone wants to see James Bond kicking butt in a variety of disparate locales, but sometimes subtlety works even better.

Up to this point, the marketing plan for Spectre has been cloaked in shadow just like Christoph Waltz' character. But, in this trailer, Sony pulls back the cloak and bathes light on the film and Christoph Waltz. While the use of shadows gave way to speculation that Waltz might be playing legendary Bond baddie and Spectre leader Blofeld, the reveal of Waltz' Franz Oberhauser seemingly puts this debate to rest.

Or does it?

While Blofeld's trademark scar and white cat are missing, Christoph Waltz is wearing a Nehru jacket similar to the one that Blofeld always wears. Hmm... I suppose the trailer could simply be edited in a way to mask the reveal of the scar later in the movie.

Otherwise, the trailer is a paint-by-numbers James Bond trailer and that's all good I suppose, but I was sort of enjoying the mystery of the teasers. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a strong supporter of Daniel Craig as Bond, so I will most definitely give this film a shot. Spectre debuts in theaters on November 6.
