'Steve Jobs' gets the Aaron Sorkin treatment

Not to take anything away from our neighbors to the north, but today seems like Movie Trailer Day. It makes sense as a couple of big Summer films get a jump start on the lucrative Fourth of July weekend by hitting theaters today. So while you might want to throw in Strange Brew or Canadian Bacon later to properly celebrate Canada Day, start the evening off right with an all-American movie trailer.

It doesn't get more American than baseball, hot dogs and Apple Computers, or something like that. So, what better way to get a head start on your patriotism than by watching this just-released trailer for Steve Jobs? In true Hollywood tradition, you can't just have one film. Just like Armageddon and Deep Impact or The Illusionist and The Prestige, there are two Steve Jobs bio pics.

2013's Jobs starring Ashton Kutcher was a non-starter, earning less than $20 million at the box office, but Steve Jobs is looking like the real deal. With Michael Fassbender in the titular role and Aaron Sorkin putting the words in his mouth, Steve Jobs was already looking more promising before we even saw frame one from today's trailer.

It should come as no shock then that despite high expectations, director Danny Boyle has seemingly hit another one out of the park. The film looks to be a more personal look at Steve Jobs and his relationships and less about his upstart rise, fall and return as the MAN behind one of the largest brands in the world. Just like The Social Network, it would also look like Sorkin's style is a perfect match for the high-paced technology world. One can only wonder how long before a studio gets him to pen a Bill Gates film.

As the poster up there mentions, Steve Jobs will invade theaters on October 9.
