Jimmy Kimmel is in Austin, Texas this week filming from SXSW and he wanted to make a lasting impact on the city. So, he decided to have a contest where he would help one local business make local TV ads to help promote their business.

Austin is such a cultural touchstone that the possibilities were endless, but in the end, he chose local video store Vulcan Video. You know that we have a great soft spot in our heart for local independent video stores, so we couldn't have been more pleased with his selection.

Vulcan Video which operates two stores in the Austin area is a true throwback in the video frontier offering not only DVD and Blu-rays but also VHS rentals for the truly discerning vintage video renter. Contrary to certain online outlets that jumped to the conclusion that they must be a failing business to still be in VHS, Vulcan Video is a shining example of the evolution and adaptation of the modern video store.

They cater to their customers and have an immense catalog that specializes in foreign and cult films that you won't find anywhere online. Don't believe me? You can search their inventory here. I think you'll find the depth and breadth of their offerings is far greater that any streaming service out there.

Either way, thanks to Jimmy Kimmel and his friend who is "passionate about movies," none other than Mr. Austin himself Matthew McConaughey, Vulcan Video is quickly becoming a social media sensation. Check the spots out for yourself below and let us know what you think.
