It's the most anticipated movie trailer of the past decade or more. The 88-second teaser trailer for next December's Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been released online and in theaters.

Come to think of it, there has not been a trailer more eagerly anticipated since Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace in 1997. Like that film, this preview represents a new generation of Star Wars films. Writer/director J.J. Abrams is bringing this new vision to life.

What am I blathering on about? Here is the teaser for The Force Awakens:

Simultaneously, there is a lot to see but also not much. We get some new visuals and new characters. Also welcome are familiar images like the ship of Han Solo, the Millennium Falcon. What we don't get to see is much plot nor beloved characters like Solo and twins Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. The opening shot of a startled John Boyega in stormtrooper armor did in fact startle me.

This minute-and-a-half preview will be dissected thoroughly over the coming weeks. We will certainly be a part of that. As we collect our thoughts, let us know what you think of this video. Does it get you excited or are you waiting for more?
