Neil Patrick Harris hosting the Oscars

Sort of hard to bury the lead on this one.

Neil Patrick Harris has been tapped to host the 87th Academy Awards ceremony on February 22, 2015. NPH is sort of like the hosting king right having been host to the Tony Awards in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013 and the Primetime Emmy Awards twice. There has been speculation the last few years that he'd get the call for the Oscars as he continued to knock it out of the park and other Oscar hosts flailed, but he hadn't gotten the call until now.

No really, he literally got the call and then crossed it off his bucket list.

Personally, I'm excited about it as he should bring exactly what the Oscars have been lacking in recent years, a youthful sense of humor that will shine in the spotlight. I watch the Oscars every year, but this year, I'm actually looking forward to all of the in-between stuff that usually makes the event grind to a halt.
