Will 'St. Vincent' finally score an Oscar win for Bill Murray?

The world is not fair. This is a fact that I am painfully aware of. Case in point, my wife and I take turns with the kids, one night, I'm responsible for the cranky, teething 10 month old and the next night I'm responsible for the likes to sleep in two year old.

Now, most nights, the baby sleeps through the night without a hitch, but every so often, like last night, he peels the paint from the walls with his howls. More often than not, those nights are my nights in charge of him.

It's fine, I love my son and I'm not night own anyhow, but life isn't fair.

The same can be said about Bill Murray and that elusive Oscar. Let's be honest, Bill was robbed in 2004 for Lost in Translation and the man is seriously overdue for his Academy recognition. Of course, such is the lot in life for many comic actors.

It's not a secret that comedies and performances in comedies tend to get overlook or robbed when it comes time to hand out the Oscars and that's a shame. Bill Murray is an American icon and sure at some point he will get the old honorary recognition that an actor with a body of work such as his most certainly deserves, but it's not the same.

However, after watching the trailer below, I believe that this will be Bill's year. He's tried comedy and drama, but the funny old grumpster is the perfect storm for him at this point in his career. I have a feeling that the role will hit a strong note with Academy voters and not only will Bill Murray secure his second Oscar nomination, but come next Spring, he will go home with the little golden man.

Of course, that sounds like an adventure for another movie. I'd pay to see that too. St. Vincent debuts in theaters on October 24.
