New video for 'Muppets Most Wanted' reminds us not to take awards season too seriously

I think we're all guilty of taking these movie award shows too seriously. Who really cares what a bunch of uptight voters and/or professional movie critics think? And how can you legitimately say that one film was better than all the others produced in a given year?

Film is a subjective artform. There are really no right or wrong answers. If you enjoyed American Hustle more than 12 Years a Slave, so be it. If you liked Pacific Rim better than them both, that's fine too. If you thought My Little Pony: Equestria Girls was the best movie of 2013, you're probably my daughter -- and it's OK for her to think that.

One day after the Golden Globes and three days before the Oscar nominations, the Muppets have released a video that illustrates the silly nature of awards season. It also happens to be a minute-long ad for their upcoming film Muppets Most Wanted.

Pretty funny, right? It's also great that they went to the trouble of recreating the debate on Twitter:

Yeah, yeah. These aren't real people. It's all staged by Disney marketing folks but that doesn't take away from the message. Don't analyze movies so much. Just sit back and enjoy them. If you don't like it, there are hundreds of others out there to try.

Muppets Most Wanted hits theaters on March 21.

If you're curious about that link tweeted by @RICHPLAYA33, it takes you to a website for Badguy Talent Management, the company run by Ricky Gervais's Dominic Badguy character in the movie. Apparently there you can enter to win a contest.
