If you recall back to my Project 52 review of 21 Jump Street from earlier this year, you might remember that I caught "myself chuckling a lot more than I ever thought I would." While not a ringing endorsement of the TV series-turned comedy spectacle, they were far better words than I ever thought I'd utter for that film.

Fast forward a few month and gee, we get our first trailer from the fast-tracked and badly named sequel 22 Jump Street. Again, realizing that they have to meet the lowest common denominator, they've put the address change situation right up on front street: they moved to the church across the street.

Yep, it's going to be one of those type of films. Of course, I said all the bad words about the first film and it still found an audience to the tune of $138 million and change. So, will this one match its predecessor's good box office fortune, or will it regress back to the mean and flounder big time? Time will tell.

22 Jump Street hits theaters on June 13, 2014. Perhaps a little Friday the 13th mystique will finally put this franchise on ice. If not, I'm sure another move back across the street for 2016 will be in the cards with "23 Jump Street."
