Tim and I only have two rules when it comes to the site: No politics and no religion. Unfortunately, Hollywood doesn't play by our rules and nearly half of the films they release are related to one of both of those topics.

Naturally, Noah is one of them with its story literally ripped out of the pages of the Old Testament of the Bible. Or is it?

I mean this is also a film directed by Darren Aronofsky after all and we all know that he loves his fantastical imagery. So, just how faithful to the Bible is Noah? Well, today's first trailer gives us a bit of an idea.

Unfortunately, the Bible is rather circumspect when it comes to details surrounding the events that led up directly to the flood. Oh sure, it mentions that men were evil and that God "regretted" creating them, but it doesn't get into specifics. That's where Aronofsky and his crew come in.

You also have to remember that the Nephilim were supposedly living on Earth at the time as well as the occasional fallen angel, so it's not like the Old Testament isn't already rife with fantastical elements already. Noah was 600 years old when the ark set sail, so Russell Crowe looks pretty good for 600.

As for the more fantastical elements, we have to turn to the international trailer that was also released today. Do we get a glimpse of the six-armed giants that are rumored to be in the movie? Perhaps. Either there's an interesting perspective shot at 33 seconds or else we are looking at a giant's back.

Noah is set to debut in theaters about a month before Easter on March 28, 2014.
