Is 'Star Wars' news imminent?

What's the old saying? The calm before the storm? Yeah, that's it.

After the flurry of information that followed Disney's purchase of LucasFilm about this time last year and the announcement of a new trilogy of films, things have been oddly quiet. We got the writer and director's names, but everything else has been rumor and it's been rather thin and speculative at best.

While it's not unusual for there to be a certain level of secrecy around J.J. Abrams' films, he's never been behind the camera of a franchise as huge and imposing as Star Wars. Nor has he ever faced such a fanatical fanbase.

To be fair, these will be the first Star Wars films that will be shot in the social media era so we're all in a bit of unknown space as it were. One thing is certain, with Disney intent on hitting that 2015 release date and releasing a new Star Wars film every year or thereabouts, some concrete information will naturally start leaking out.

Late yesterday, that avalanche of information may have started its trickle downhill. Jennfer Heddle, a senior editor for LucasFilm/LucasBooks tweeted out the following.

That was quickly followed up by these two interesting tweets from a Ali Arikan.

So, who is Ali Arikan? He's apparently the head film critic of Dipnot TV, a Turkish news portal. Hmm, that sounds rather dubious, but others have claimed that he's been reliable with Star Wars rumors in the past and hey, why not? I guess time will tell and we'll update this story if things break, but with the New York Comic Con this weekend, it's entirely possible that we'll have a title and some big casting announcements soon.

Or not. Either way, Star Wars: Episode VII is set to begin filming in the near future, so something has to give, right?
