Guillermo del Toro puts his stamp on 'The Simpsons'

It's not often that we swerve into TV land, but this was way too cool to pass up. Director Guillermo del Toro put his unique touch on this weekend's opening for The Simpsons.

Despite only being October 6, the long-running animated series will be broadcasting its annual "Treehouse of Horror" episode that has become a ritual that perhaps even transcends the series itself. This year's incarnation is the 24th iteration and one can only imagine what they'll do next season for the big silver anniversary.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves and simply enjoy del Toro's masterpiece. There are so many wonderful homages to horror films from the past, as well and cheeky nods to his own body of work.

All in all, it's a great piece and a reminder that despite this being their 25th season, The Simpsons can still surprise and delight us.
