When Tom Hiddleston confirmed yesterday what we pretty much knew for a few months that Loki will not appear in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, we were sad. Then, this new trailer for Thor: The Dark World dropped and we were happy again.

You see, there's plenty of Loki in this film and while it's sad that Loki won't be in the next Avengers at least the character will continue to play a prominent role in the Thor franchise. As the trickster God, you know that Loki is never down for too long and the new trailer shows him back in action fighting alongside Thor against a new threat.

The trailer also features some of the first footage that we've seen of Natalie Portman in Asgard and really hammers (pun definitely intended) home the dual lives being led both on Earth and on Asgard. In fact, the best scene in the trailer is when Nat punches Loki and says, "that was for New York," an obvious reference to The Avengers.

It's really the little things that Marvel gets right in all of their films and if I were DC, I would be taking notes if they haven't already. We've invested a lot of time into these films so having story lines that thread through different films and have repercussions in others simply adds to the experience.

Thor: The Dark World is set to open on November 8.
