New 'Despicable Me 2' trailer reveals good guy Gru

If there's one animated film this Summer that I'm looking forward to seeing more than any other, it would be Despicable Me 2. The first film was a pleasant surprise that really came out of nowhere and is in my top five animated films from the last decade.

So, you can imagine that I have some pretty high expectations for Despicable Me 2, but they keep blowing them out of the water with each new look at the film. I have to give them credit because most films suffer from either revealing too much or too little of the film.

Sequels, because we already are familiar with the subject matter, tend to err on the side of too little, but Despicable Me 2 has had a nice blend. Of course, it doesn't hurt that they have the adorable little minions at their disposal to carry a trailer all by their lonesome.

This trailer, though, really reveals large chunks of the plot. It seems that Gru has been tapped by the Anti-Villain League (AVL) to be a sort of consultant in their quest to take down ruthless villains. So, basically, Gru gets to go back to his life of cool vehicles and gadgets, but this time on for the good guys.

It makes for a perfect continuation of the story from the previous film and it's good to see that the girls are back and as prominent in his life as ever. And as for the minions? Well, they always steal the laughs, don't they?
