Oscar Watch: New 'Zero Dark Thirty' trailer oozes testosterone

This weekend was big one in terms of Oscar trailers being released. Zero Dark Thirty is one of those films that is surprising running a bit under the radar, which is just perfect given its subject matter.

In case you forgot, Zero Dark Thirty is the name of Kathryn Bigelow's film about the the events surrounding the tracking and killing of Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden. The first trailer was a bit of a tease and seemed to focus more on the scary real technology that exists in the world for tracking individuals, while this latest trailer is straight story the entire way.

For a trailer that quite frankly oozes testosterone, it's a bit jarring and refreshing to see Jessica Chastain up front and center. I don't know much about the actual events on the evening of May 2, 2011, which is probably why I'm anxiously awaiting this film, but I do know that the source of the actionable intel for the Seal Team Six came from a female CIA operative, presumably the character that Ms. Chastain is playing.

Sure, Joel Edgerton is going to be the hero of the film, but I think it's quite apparent that Jessica will more than hold her own in this boy's club. Zero Dark Thirty hits theaters on December 19, 2012, just in time for Oscar consideration.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Oscar noms for both Chastain for Best Actress and Bigelow for Best Director.
