You know, it's funny. My wife and I were watching fencing the other day and she said that she just didn't get it.

She said why sword fight if there weren't any real consequences. Now, if they were fighting to the death, then she'd be all for it. After taking a moment to process my wife's newly discovered (at least by me) blood lust, I realized that she had a pretty compelling point.

It does seem rather ridiculous that we have these sports with violent pasts and make them tame for competition. Now, I realize that it would be wrong to have people killing each other on national TV. I doubt McDonald's and Coca-Cola would still advertise so heavily if that were the case.

And yet, it got me wondering what other games from movies would be fun to see in the Olympics. In that spirit, here are the medal winners for games that we would like to see added to the Olympics.

BRONZE

How is roller derby or by extension this futuristic take on it not already in the Olympics? Rollerball basically adds a ball and a whole lot of grit to roller derby.

Sure, in the movies there's plenty of violence, so in the spirit of the Olympics, we will tone that back a bit. But I think starting with roller derby would be a good start.

SILVER

BASEketball is one of those sports in which the United States would absolutely dominate in, you know if it actually existed. Given that the Olympic committee has taken baseball and softball out of the Olympics, it seems only fair that we add this new sport to the mix.

GOLD

Some might say that team handball is already heavily influenced by dodge ball, but to those people I say that you're not paying attention enough. DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story is one of those great little underdog films that stands up to the test of time.

The laughs keep coming and bring home the gold.

With one day to go, it's all tied up at the top. There's a three-way tie for first place in the medal count, so it all comes down to tomorrow.

Make sure you come back tomorrow when we get a little closure.
