The Avengers will bring its box office shattering act to DVD and Blu-ray on September 25. And just like that the normally sleepy home entertainment month of September has gone prime time.

Earlier this week Paramount announced that the Indiana Jones movies will be debuting on Blu-ray on September 18 and with today's Avengers announcement, they provide a nice one-two punch to lead into the lucrative 4th quarter.

The Avengers has earned just north of $600 million at the domestic box office, good for the third best performance of all time. It's still possible that it could catch Titanic's second place total of $658 million, but I think it will fall short ending its run with approximately $625 million.

Disney is so excited about the upcoming release of The Avengers that they even created this video announcing its release.

Naturally, Marvel isn't just going to rest on its laurels with a simple release for The Avengers. They also announced a special, limited edition Blu-ray collection that includes six Marvel movies and dedicated special features disc. Of course, they also produced a video teasing its release on September 25.

The Avengers Assembled: Marvel Universe Phase 1 will include the following films:

The Avengers Assembled: Marvel Universe Phase 1 will also come in "collectible packaging with exclusive memorabilia from the Marvel Cinematic Universe." This item is going to be extremely rare and comes with a suggested retail price of $219.00.

If you're just interested in The Avengers, don't worry we have all the details for the single title sku as well. There are three options (well technically four) for just buying The Avengers: 2 Disc DVD, 2 Disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and 4 Disc 3D Blu-ray/Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.

The 4 Disc combo pack also includes a digital download of the movie as well as a digital download of the film's soundtrack and carries a suggested retail price of $49.99. The suggested retail of the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack (available in DVD or Blu-ray packaging) is $39.99. The suggested retail price of the DVD is $29.99.
