It seems like it's been forever since we got that one little shot of Ben Affleck in character in Argo. And that's because it has been almost six months, which is forever in this business.

As most of you know, I've been looking forward to Argo for a long time. Beyond being Affleck's latest directorial effort in what is quickly becoming a pretty promising direction for the actor, it also looks like Ben Affleck will finally reappear in a big, bad way.

Of course, up until now, this was all pure speculation.

This was simply conjecture based on a solid, true story and the formidable cast that Affleck had assembled. The story centers on Iran and American hostage crisis from the late 1970s and early 1980s. The CIA came up with a daring plan to try and get six hostages out of Iran by posing as a Canadian film crew scouting locations for a SciFi film.

The cast is beyond top notch and this trailer showcases the always wonderful John Goodman, Bryan Cranston and Alan Arkin in performances that should push the Oscar needle a bit. I know it's early, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Argo reunites Mr. Affleck with a little golden statue called Oscar.

The trailer (and I would imagine the film in general) looks like a cross between Munich and Wag the Dog and should find a nice audience when awards season starts to heat up. Argo opens on October 12.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
