International 'Prometheus' trailer connects the dots

At this point, we all think that we have a pretty clear picture of what Prometheus is and what it is not. Of course, what we think means very little and something tells me that we don't know a whole lot about what we will see when the movie opens in June.

From the trailers released thus far (including the newly released international trailer below), one would immediately think that Prometheus is a prequel to Alien. We see alien pods, ships similar to the one that was crashed on LV-426 in Alien and space jockeys. But, director Ridley Scott has vehemently denied that it is a prequel.

Fair enough.

Prometheus might not be a direct prequel in the traditional sense where the end of the movie sets up the beginning of Alien, but I think it's safe to say that we are talking about movies from the same universe. From the clips and the on-screen marketing messages, there seems to be a lot of talk about the beginning of humanity.

In the trailer below, there looks to be a primitive face hugger that is a bit less evolved than the species we see in Alien. Of course, it could simply be that the xenomorphs are populated on more worlds than we thought or, and potentially more shocking, the link between humans and xenomorphs might be more intricately intertwined than we thought.

Think of a reverse Planet of the Apes where the crew of Prometheus actually travels back in time and the planet they find is a primordial Earth and that we as humans have all evolved from xenomorphs. I bet that would knock off a few pair of socks, no?

I'm not really sure what to think at this point, but something tells me that the trailers aren't telling us the whole story. I must warn you that the clip below contains a lot more plot than the previous trailers so if you don't want to be spoiled, you might want to turn back now.

You've been warned. Prometheus hits theaters on June 8.
