New 'American Reunion' poster forces the deja vu

Universal Pictures, the studio behind the forthcoming American Reunion, really hope you have a fond remembrance of the 1999 teen comedy American Pie.

It's obvious from the marketing pieces they've released so far that they're banking -- quite literally -- on nostalgia to drive people to see this new film. The MTV Movie Blog got the exclusive first look at the new poster for the movie coming next year on April 6.

We've included a little side-by-side comparison of the new versus the original one's cast montage. To say this new one is forced is something of an understatement. Click on either to get a close-up look.

The first poster has the illusion of being spontaneous fun. The new one looks Photoshopped all to hell. Blogger Dan Hacker itemized the flaws of the American Reunion poster on his Digital Collage blog.
