'Snow White' trailer goes evil

When the movie is called Snow White and the Huntsman, you would imagine that there would at least be one word spoken from the titular character in the trailer. Of course, when it's Kristen Stewart playing Snow White that might not be such a bad thing.

Today, we got our first look at the trailer and first four posters for Snow White and the Huntsman and I'm sorry Julia Roberts, but the Snow White war is over before the first shot was even fired. You see, 2012 was shaping up to be the year of the epic showdown of Snow Whites with two separate live-action pictures set to debut.

Julia's more traditional (and stylistic?) take directed by Tarsem recently got its own name, Mirror, Mirror, but the damage was done when the first ridiculous images debuted online earlier this year. It's pretty apparent that after seeing the trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman, these two movies are going for completely different takes on the classic fairy tale.

While Mirror, Mirror is going for the fantastical, over-the-top approach, Snow White and the Huntsman is aiming for a more gritty, Joan of Arc feel. Personally, there's no comparison for me as not only do I think this story lends itself to the darker elements, but if I had to choose between Julia Roberts and Charlize Theron for my evil queen, Charlize wins hands down.

Mark my words, Charlize Theron will make children scream with fear as the Evil Queen. As long as Kristen Stewart can turn in a performance that doesn't suck the life out of the movie (and from the trailer, it seems that the real action is between Charlize and Chris Hemsworth) then Snow White and the Huntsman should be a surefire hit.

Snow White and the Huntsman hits theaters on June 1, 2012. Let us know what you think of the trailer.
