UPDATED: Jerry Bruckheimer to tweet 'Pirates' Blu-ray release date

While we like to pride ourselves with breaking as much news as possible about release dates, sometimes the heavy lifting is best reserved for the big guys. And they don't come any bigger in this industry than Jerry Bruckheimer.

Jerry is notorious for being very secretive about the home entertainment release dates of his movies and on Wednesday, he's taking matters into his own hands - quite literally.

Via his twitter page, Jerry plans to tweet out the Blu-ray release date for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides on Wednesday July 13 at 6:00 PM Eastern time. He will also tweet out a sneak peak at the box art and the announcement event will culminate at 7:00 PM Eastern time with Entertainment Tonight broadcasting an exclusive First Look with short bonus sneak peek.

As promised, Jerry Bruckheimer tweeted this evening (although he was a bit tardy) the release date of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides on Blu-ray. You can own the latest swashbuckling adventure on October 18, 2011.

He also posted the artwork on his blog which you can see by clicking here. Additionally, he also posted a behind-the-scenes snippet of the lovely mermaids.

Talk about bringing out the big guns to sell this Blu-ray.
