'Tron Legacy' downloads to DVD and Blu-ray on April 5

On April 5, the wait will finally be over to own the complete Tron collection. For Tron fans, your options will almost be limitless depending on your level of fandom.

As you may already know, Disney put the original Tron movie in the infamous Disney vault ahead of the release of Tron: Legacy. DVD collectors have been making a cool mint on old DVDs as the availability became scarce, but their days are numbered.

The original Tron movie will be available in both special edition DVD and Blu-ray versions that will retail for $29.99 and $39.99 respectively. Both versions contain the following special features:

  • The TRON Phenomenon Since its original release in 1982, TRON became an instant classic with a cult fan base. Explore the reasoning by this phenomenon, its impact on pop culture, and its resurgence with the release of TRON: Legacy, featuring interviews with the filmmakers and stars from the new movie.
  • Audio Commentary With director Steven Lisberger, producer Donald Kushner, associate producer and visual effects supervisor Harrison Ellenshaw and visual effects supervisor Richard Taylor
  • The Making of Tron Includes interviews with cast members Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner, Cyndi Morgan, Bernard Hughes, Daniel Shore, and David Warner. New Interviews with writer/director Steven Lisberger, Richard Taylor, Harrison Ellenshaw, Donald Kushner, and other key production personnel
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Featurettes

The Blu-ray version also includes:

  • Photo Tronology: Join director Steven Lisberger and his son, Carl Lisberger, on a personal journey to Disney's photo library and hear anecdotes and intimate stories from Steven as they uncover the original production photos and materials taken during the making of TRON

For die-hard fans that already have the original Tron on DVD and are just looking for Tron: Legacy, Disney has options for you too. Tron: Legacy will be available in two combo packs. The first includes the Bluray and DVD and will retail for $39.99. The second includes the 3D Bluray, the 2D Bluray and the DVD which will retail for $49.99.

The special features on these combo packs include:
