'District 9' director releases odd video

If there's one thing that I've come to learn about the Internet, it's that there's a ton of weird videos out there. And I'm not even talking about the pornographic ones.

The really odd, or strange ones end up getting passed around like a and before you know it, a simple little video of a serious looking gopher has millions and millions of impressions. The latest such video certainly has its feet squarely in the land of the unusual, but there's a twist.

The video allegedly surfaced as part of the iPad version of Wired Magazine and the filmmaker responsible is none other than director Neill Blomkamp. You'll immediately recognize the guerrilla filmmaking style of his that he popularized in District 9.

The subject of the video is what is causing the stir though as it seems that it shows a creature that could easily have been an extra from District 9, but there's no context as to where the "animal" comes from. It only has a weird stamp on it.

It's not known if this is the start of a viral campaign from the groundbreaking director or the teaser for a new movie. What is known is that the video clip is creepy. Beyond that, it's anyone's guess. What do you think?
