College Humor reimagines movies with smartphones

The other day I was watching The Sixth Sense and I thought to myself. Man, if only Haley Joel Osment had a camera phone because if he had, he could snapped one of those BFFs self-portraits with it and realize that Bruce Willis was dead a lot sooner.

Oops, spoiler alert.

But seriously, after watching that, I started to wonder how other movies and even literature would be moot in a 21st century world. Tell me that Romeo & Juliet wouldn't have had a happy ending had Romeo and Juliet been text buddies.

I imagine the tragic ending averting text from Juliet to go something like this:

"OMG, R I <3 U but 'rents r buzz kills. want 2 die. jk."

Oops, another spoiler alert.

Well, from there you start snowballing into a whole bunch of "what if" scenarios. What if Clark Griswold had used his phone to check to see if Walley World was open? How about Marion Crane using her iPhone to get a review of the Bates Motel ("The beds are soft, but the showers are murder")? And so on and so on.

Well, the peeps over at College Humor, whom we've featured many times and can't recommend enough, must have had the same thought and they put together this little video. While they didn't use any of the movies that I thought of, it's clear that we are both on the same track.

In fact, their spoof on Back to the Future is both inspired and timely (The Back to the Future trilogy hits Blu-ray tomorrow) and will leave you laughing your head off. But be forewarned, if you haven't seen some of the classics like Back to the Future, Citizen Kane or Casablanca you might be spoiled.

Of course, if you haven't seen them by now, you deserve to be spoiled. It's a sled people, carry on. What do you think of the video?
