M. Night scores with his sense of humor

If there's one thing that hasn't changed at theaters in the last 5 years or so, it's the rather loud displeasure aimed at M. Night Shyamalan from audiences and critics alike. The quick change in favor is rather well-earned as his latest movies have seemingly lost the creative edge that propelled Shyamalan to superstardom with The Sixth Sense.

Well, it's not surprising to hear that the latest project to have his name attached (Devil, as only writer and producer) is getting a rather chilly reception as its trailer hits theaters nationwide. Surprisingly though, it seems that Night has a good sense of humor about it.

Devil which posits what would happen if five strangers became trapped in an elevator and one of them isn't who he or she appears to be. Well, in light of the story's premise, M. Night Shyamalan produced a faux trailer in cooperation with MTV Movies called "Escalation" which poses a similar question, albeit on an escalator instead of an elevator.

Needless to say, this parody might be better than the movie that it skewers. And this little snippet might do more to mend the sullied relationship with fans and critics than any number of average movies.
