The minds who brought you Shrek and Kung Fu Panda are working on an instructional video?

Well, not exactly. How to Train Your Dragon is DreamWorks Animation's adaptation of the kiddie lit book series by Cressida Cowell. The studio just released a trailer for the film coming next Spring.

It's the story of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. The young Viking warrior isn't as fierce or heroic as he is expected to be. When challenged with finding a dragon to train, he picks out the scrawniest of the bunch and names him Toothless.

The film is being directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders. These two previously worked together on the Disney flick Lilo & Stitch. (Sanders was also provided the voice for Stitch.) That was traditional animation. 'Dragon' is digitally animated -- and will be presented in 3D to boot. Here's hoping these talented filmmakers can rise to this new challenge.

Jay Baruchel is the voice for Hiccup. The cast also includes Gerard Butler, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, and Craig Ferguson.

How to Train Your Dragon arrives in theaters on Mar. 26, 2010.
