Leave it to investigative reporter Gale Weathers to dig up some dirt on the upcoming slasher sequel Scream 4. Courteney Cox-Arquette was chatting with Sci Fi Wire about her new TV show and she revealed the first details of the Kevin Williamson film.
"She has a kid now. She's married to Dewey."
Deputy Dewey is played by her real life husband David Arquette and the pair are so far the only announced characters returning to the horror franchise that helped to reinvent the horror genre and kick start Neve Campbell's career.
Speaking of Neve, the last time we heard anything about the project it had to do with her refusal to reprise her role of Sidney Prescott from the original trilogy causing Kevin Williamson to quip that the decision would mean significant rewrites for Scream 4.
What little we know about Scream 4 comes mostly from this interview. The story is set 10 years in the future from the end of the last trilogy and a new group of young kids are learning to play by the rules of horror film cliches.
"I heard the idea for Scream 4, and it's fantastic," continued Cox-Arquette. "I'm excited. It'll be really fun."
What do you think of the idea of a Scream 4? Does this little bit of knowledge sway you either way?
While we still believe that we could see Scream 4 in time for Halloween 2010, it's looking more and more like it might move into 2011.
