You know it's a slow news day when we have to make stuff up for your to read, but on the other hand, it allows us to be more creative. I think you'll like today's little time-waster.

We've all seen those viral movie parodies that take a big hit or a recent blockbuster and turn it upside down with hilarious results. Over the years, I've been compiling an unofficial list in my head of my favorites and I thought I'd share that list with you today.

This is in no way an exhaustive list of all the millions of movie parodies out there, it's simply a quick and dirty list of 10 of them that stand out in my head. Please be forewarned that some of these selections may contain coarse language at the very least and jawa abuse at the worst.

Without further ado, here is my list:

  1. Troops
This parody of Star Wars and Cops is a nice blend of geeky and funny.

  2. The Matrix Runs on Windows
There is just something inherently funny and right about the ides that The Matrix is running on Windows with disastrous results. As a Mac guy, I find it doubly funny.

  3. Three Matthew McConaugheys and a Baby
It's Matthew McConaughey's best fantasy (three of him) and worst nightmare come true all at the same time. It's a little uneven at times, but it's still a valiant effort.

  4. Batman's Gonna Get Shot in the Face
Don't be fooled by it's animation, this one is certainly no kiddie show as The Flash sports the salty sailor mouth. But, it's also one of the most hilarious sendups of the comic book/superhero business that I've see to date.

  5. Lego Silence of the Lambs
Lego movie spoofs have become an Internet meme in and of itself, but there's just something completely wrong about making The Silence of the Lambs into a musical. It's like Sweeney Todd for a new generation.

  6. Redneck Slumdog Millionaire
No movie is too new to be above the Internet parody police as we see in this rather well done parody of this year's Oscar winner for Best Picture.

  7. Thumbtanic
I love the Thumb spoofs, but I think this one is a thumb above the rest.

  8. Bunny Pulp Fiction
The 30 second bunny spoofs are hands down my favorite series of movie spoofs. I could watch them all day long and I have on occasion.

  9. Trooper Clerks
This combines my love of Star Wars with my love of everything Kevin Smith perfectly. When you're done with this one, make sure and check out the extended animated Trooper Clerks.

  10. George Lucas in Love
I think it goes without saying that the biggest movie parodied online is Star Wars. This one might not have started it all, but it certainly set the bar in terms of quality and originality.
