The news headline "[Jake] Gyllenhaal in bed with [Jessica] Biel for 'Nailed'" on The Hollywood Reporter's web site certainly raised my eyebrows -- to the point where I think I had hair on my bald head for a few seconds.

Just as I now have hundreds of red-blooded American men wondering about Jessica Biel and this supposed film project, THR had me in its grip. After the inevitable click for more information, I had more clues (and intrigue) in the synopsis written by THR's Gregg Goldstein:

Biel would play Sammy Joyce, a socially awkward small-town receptionist who has a nail accidentally shot into her head by a clumsy workman, eliciting wild sexual urges.

The uninsured Joyce goes on a crusade to Washington to fight for the rights of the bizarrely injured. She meets an immoral congressman (Jake Gyllenhaal) who takes advantage of her sex drive and capitalizes on her crusade as Joyce heads into her own career in politics.

Sounds a tad bizarre, eh? Turns out Nailed is a political satire written by Al Gore's daughter, Kristin Gore. Makes you wonder what went on at Number One Observatory Circle (the veep's residence) during Gore's vice-presidency.

Co-writing and directing will be David O. Russell. His most prestigious film to date is 1999's Gulf War film Three Kings starring George Clooney.

Both stars are only "attached" at this point and have yet to officially sign on for the project. Despite this, DreamWorks hopes to get preproduction underway in a few weeks with shooting to begin in January.

Biel fans can see her in the comedy I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, new this week on DVD and HD-DVD.
