Sorry, we don't normally post TV news -- let alone TV game show news. I just couldn't resist using that headline.

That and I'm pleased as punch to see Drew Carey taking the reigns of "The Price is Right" from Bob Barker. Carey confirmed the new gig Monday afternoon while taping Late Night with David Letterman.

"It's only a game show, but it's the longest-running game show in American television and I plan to keep it that way," he told Letterman.

Carey, 49, takes over from Bob Barker, 83. Barker retired in June after hosting the show for 35 years.

Drew previously hosted the pseudo game show improv comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway? (Incidentally, a second volume of that show's highlights hits DVD on Oct. 9.) Carey is also hosting a new game show called "Power of 10" which debuts on CBS later this summer.
