Episode III In Preproduction?

With Star Wars: Episode II still over a year away from debuting at the megaplexes, could it be that George Lucas has already started work on Episode III?

Not quite, but apparently he's not far off either. Various sources confirm that Lucas plans to start on conceptual work for Episode III in September with the goal of having some animatics and a large part of the costumes done before they head for Sydney in January of 2003.

Man, that DOES seem like a galaxy far, far away...
