Last month, Warner Bros. locked up director Bryan Singer to do a sequel to Superman Returns and today it was announced that Brandon Routh would return as the Man of Steel.
"I'm certainly excited to do another one. I don't think we'll start for awhile since we have a 2009 release, but I'm excited about the potential," said Routh.
Rumors were circulating that Warner Bros. had set a domestic gross of $200 million as the goal to greenlight a sequel. Coincidentally, Superman Returns surpassed the barrier just before the announcement of Singer's signing.
The sequel is expected in cinemas Summer 2009.
