The battle was on. They shared many of the same cast members. Their shock humor was targeted to the same audience. They even had the same release date (August 10, 2001). But then, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back did the gentlemanly thing and moved their release back two weeks to give American Pie 2 a fair shot at the market.
